中村キース・へリング美術館 / Nakamura Keith Haring Collection Art Museum

1980年代ニューヨークのアートシーンを席巻したアーティスト、キース・ヘリングのコレクションのみを展示する、世界で初めてのプライベート美術館です。本施設は北杜市小淵沢町に位置し、ナラ、ヤマザクラ、カラマツ、アカマツなどが自生する緑豊かな森に囲まれています。美術館棟とスパ棟で構成され、周辺環境と地形を生かすために、既存の樹木を保全しながら地形に沿った平屋造りになっています。森と美術館とスパの融合によって新しい環境を形成し、地域の文化に貢献することを目指しました。美術館棟はアメリカのアーティスト、キース・ヘリングの作品を展示するために計画され、展示室「闇」、「ジャイアントフレーム」、「希望」はキースの人生を追体験するようなシークエンシャルな空間構成とし、それぞれの作品をより純粋に感受できるように配慮してあります。

This project is located in Kobuchizawa in Yamanashi prefecture, at the foot of the Southern Japanese Alps. The site is in a rich environment of wild trees, like oak, mountain cherry, larch and red pine. The scheme is divided into a museum block and a spa block. With full respect for the natural environment, each block consists of one-storey buildings carefully placed to protect the existing trees. The project aims to contribute to the local culture and create a new environment in a unique marriage of the museum, the spa and the forest. The museum is designed for the works of the American artist Keith Haring. The rooms, ‘shadow’, ‘giant frame’, ‘hope’ are arranged sequentially to guide visitors through an appreciation and experience of the life and works of Keith Haring.
