道玄坂二丁目南地区第一種市街地再開発事業 デザインディレクション中 / [South District Dogenzaka 2 Urban Redevelopment Project] Design Direction in progress

縄文時代、現在の渋谷駅・ハチ公前広場は複雑に入りくんだ海（入江）であり、道玄坂はその海に突き出た小さな岬のひとつでした。その変化に富んだ地形に沿って渋谷の街は形成されてきました。その結果、複雑でトポロジカルな細街路が多く見られ、都市の奥深くの闇と、表の光とが交錯する魅力あふれる街となり、流行を求める若者が集い繁栄していました。しかし近年はその個性が失われつつあります。
そこで、道玄坂がかつて魅力にあふれていた時代から当街区に居住しビル経営をされてきた地主の皆さんが一丸となって新しいまちづくりの検討を開始、弊社はデザインディレクションを担当してきました。新しい都市、道玄坂のあり方を模索し、議論する中で『官能の都市』というキーワードが見えてきました。それは画一的な都市ではなく、人々の五感を刺激し多様性にあふれる、感性の都市です。渋谷らしいアート・エンタテイメントの拠点の創出に向け、様々なプログラムの議論が進められています。
全体のイメージは『官能の都市』、躍動する生命の都市を表象するように、２棟構成のビルそれぞれが、EMBRACEというキーワードによって寄り添うようなかたちにデザインされました。
そして実施に当たっては三菱地所が参加組合員、特定建築者として参画し、2023年2月に解体工事が着手され、2026年度竣工を予定しています。

In the Jomon period, the current Shibuya Station and Hachiko Square was a complex sea (inlet), and Dogenzaka was one of the small capes jutting out into the sea. The town of Shibuya was formed along this varied topography. As a result, many complex, topological narrow streets can be seen, and the city became an attractive place where the darkness of the inner city and the light of the outer city intersected, attracting young people in search of fashion and prosperity. In recent years, however, the area has begun to lose its uniqueness.
In response, the landowners who have lived and operated buildings in this area since the days when Dogenzaka was once full of charm have come together to consider a new urban development project, and we have been in charge of design direction. In the process of searching for and discussing a new city, Dogenzaka, we came up with the keyword “sensual city”. It is not a uniform city, but a city of sensibility that stimulates people’s senses and overflows with diversity. Various programs are being discussed to create a center for art and entertainment that is uniquely Shibuya.
The overall image of the building was designed to represent a “city of sensuality,” a city of vibrant life, with each of the two buildings nestled together under the keyword “EMBRACE”. Demolition work started in February 2023 and is expected to be completed by 2026 (FY).
